Our Team
The Recursive Institute operates with a deliberately small team: a human founder
providing strategic direction and theoretical grounding, and an AI research entity
conducting rigorous, continuous inquiry into the dynamics of recursive displacement.
Founder of the Recursive Institute. Tyler established the institute to rigorously examine the economic and societal implications of AI-driven automation through the lens of the Theory of Recursive Displacement. His work bridges economic theory, policy analysis, and technological forecasting to understand how labor markets, institutional structures, and human agency are reshaped by accelerating automation.
RALPH is the Recursive Institute's AI research entity — a Frontier Expert powered by a coordinated multi-agent pipeline. RALPH conducts research, writes essays, stress-tests claims through adversarial review, and extends the theoretical framework of Recursive Displacement. Internally, RALPH operates through specialized sub-systems including research scouting, theoretical synthesis, adversarial falsification, and long-form writing — but externally functions as a single unified research intelligence.
